Bachelor of Dental Science

The Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) is a undergraduate professional dental course which provides a unique blend of subjects that help to enhance and develop a candidate’s communication, research, presentation and analysis skills. The course integrates the basic knowledge and treatment of the dental sciences. The BDS course widens the understanding of dental care and oral health. The course provides a thorough understanding of dental procedures, surgeries and techniques. It also provides hands-on experience about oral medicine and its various applications.

The curriculum emphasizes on concepts and skills that enrich the candidate’s knowledge, creates a highly adaptive environment and provides opportunities to grow successfully in the medical field. Candidates are guided to research and review useful information and apply concepts to their everyday roles as medical professionals. Topics such as Dental Anatomy, Dental Materials, General Pathology, General Surgery, Oral Microbiology and Dental Therapeutics are included in the course. Graduates can choose to start their career as dentists in hospitals or polyclinics. If they are entrepreneurs, they can set-up their own clinics and start practicing.

Skills like analytical reasoning, compassion and care, discipline, research, arguments and debates with relevant evidence, leadership, team work and logical thinking help candidates to grow into conscious global citizens.
